MEMBERSHIP
We want to build a vibrant membership that is reflective of our Community, but in order to achieve that, we need your help.
Membership
Glenfield Community Centre belongs to the community it serves.
We want to build a vibrant, welcoming membership that reflects the people, families, cultures, groups and organisations that make up Glenfield and the wider Kaipātiki area. Membership is one simple way to stay connected, support the Centre’s work, and take a more active interest in what happens here.
Membership of Glenfield Community Centre is free.
As a member, you agree to abide by the Centre’s Constitution and to receive Centre communications, including our monthly electronic newsletter and occasional updates about Centre activities, events, meetings and opportunities to be involved.
Membership also gives you the opportunity to take a more formal role in the life of the Centre. Members may be eligible to apply for, stand for, or be considered for the Governance Group, in accordance with the Centre’s Constitution and any relevant nomination or appointment process.
Why become a member?
Becoming a member helps strengthen the Centre’s connection with the community.
As a member, you can:
- stay up to date with what is happening at the Centre;
- support a local community facility that serves a wide range of people and groups;
- learn about events, activities and opportunities to participate;
- help ensure the Centre’s membership reflects the diversity of the community;
- take a future interest in governance, planning or community decision-making; and
- connect with opportunities to volunteer or contribute where suitable.
Volunteering and getting involved
Membership can also be a good first step if you would like to become more involved.
From time to time, the Centre may need volunteer support for community events, activities, projects, working bees, local initiatives or practical tasks. Some opportunities may be regular, while others may be occasional or one-off.
You do not need to be an expert. A willingness to help, work respectfully with others and support the Centre’s community purpose is what matters most.
Volunteering can be a great way to meet people, share skills, build local connections and contribute to a place that supports many different parts of the Glenfield community.
Who can join?
Membership is open to people who support the purposes of Glenfield Community Centre Incorporated and are willing to follow the Centre’s Constitution.
We welcome interest from residents, regular users, hirers, tenants, volunteers, community partners and others who want to support the Centre’s ongoing role as a community hub.
